A Boozy Brunch

The more (than a mimosa), the merrier!

While bubbly will always be a brunch classic, guests have been eager to incorporate a little something stronger in their mid-morning lineup – and as the hosts with the most, who are we to tell them no?!

Brunch cocktails have become a category of their own. With unconventional additions like carrot juice and matcha, these early morning elixirs are stepping outside of the lines and making a claim for why boozy brunches reign supreme.

With this in mind, we’ve developed three categories from which the best boozy brunches are born: brunch punch, sunrise sips, and morning mocktails. Each offers their own charm that will have you ditching the mimosas and cueing the cocktails.

Brunch Punch

Brunch punch bowls are the dynamic centerpiece your next brunch needs. Not only do they take the bartending responsibility off of your plate, incorporate an interactive element that enlivens any gathering, and refresh the standard brunch bar of bubbly – but they look damn good doing it. Prep your pre-batched cocktail ahead of time to allow the flavors to mingle. With 30 minutes until guest arrival, pour into your dispenser of choice (peep our favorite punch bowls below). Next, we adorn with edible flowers, freshly cut citrus, sweet berries or fresh herbs. And voila, boozy brunch punch executed to perfection. Here are Hauste’s go-to brunch punch recipes sure to better your next brunch.

Sunrise Sips

For smaller guest lists, opt for individually-prepared cocktails. You can either shake or stir as cups near empty, or avoid playing bartender all morning by printing a “how-to” with proportions for your signature sunrise sip. For morning cocktails, lean into bright and fresh flavors such as seasonal citrus, floral syrups, and herbaceous additions. The ultimate sunrise sip emulates the fan-fave, morning-making, wellness-enhancing juice of your local juice bar – only with a little libation added. Needing inspo? Here are Hauste’s favorites.

Morning Mocktails

Whether or not your crowd are dry January observers, a crisp morning mocktail always hits. The same framework for a sunrise sip rings true for a morning mocktail: fresh, crisp, earthy, bright, simply sweetened – just without the splash of spirits. For those who want a little spike in their sip, serve chilled bubbly on the side to top. If there’s a time to juice your own fruits & veg, it’s for a brunch mocktail. But if time is of the essence, farmer’s markets and certain grocers carry fresh-pressed juices that make like-homemade mocktails. For sunrise sips and morning mocktails alike, eye-catching glassware is a must – peruse our faves below.
