5 Things to Do at Your Galentine's Party (Besides Yap)

How to keep your galentine's party fun (without over-planning).

Here's the thing about party activities: there's a balance. On one end, you don't want your party to rely solely on conversation and risk awkwardness. But on the other, you don't want to over-plan and force guests into a game when they were genuinely enjoying themselves already. This is one of the trickiest parts of hosting.

With Galentine's though, I think there's more room to lean into planned activities. Your girlfriends came ready to celebrate, and the right activity can turn a good party into one everyone remembers. Here are five ideas that actually work:

1. Card Crafting

Inspired by the nostalgic activity of making valentines for your classroom, set up a card-making station for guests to craft birthday, holiday, or any occasion cards. Analog is back and sending cards is fun again! Stock the table with cardstock, stamps, stickers, markers, and maybe some vintage-inspired embellishments. Everyone leaves with a stack of handmade cards they'll actually use throughout the year.

2. Game Night

Round up all of your favorite board and card games and make a "Lover's Leaderboard" so the girlies can get competitive. Keep score throughout the night and have someone win an actual prize at the end (maybe a nice candle, a bottle of wine, or something cute and girly.) The leaderboard adds just enough stakes to keep things entertaining without taking it too seriously.

3. Book Exchange

'Tis the season for smutty romance novels! Have each guest bring a wrapped book of their choosing and play white elephant to exchange your favorite romcom reads. Everyone goes home with a new book to read, and the unwrapping process always leads to the best conversations about everyone's current reading obsessions.

4. Pasta Making

This one doubles as fun and practical. Making pasta from scratch is such a hands-on activity and gets everyone involved in making dinner, a total win-win! Set out rolling pins, flour, and pasta cutters, and don't stress about perfection. The messy, flour-covered moments are what make it memorable! Plus, you all get to eat what you made together.

5. Bag Charm or Jewelry Making

Set up a beading station with colorful beads, charms, and cord so everyone can make their own bag charms or beaded jewelry. It's the perfect pre-summer activity! Everyone can create cute beaded necklaces or bracelets they'll actually wear on vacation. Plus, there's something so satisfying about making something with your hands while catching up with friends.

The key with any of these activities is reading the room. If everyone's deep in conversation and having a great time, don't force it. But if energy is starting to dip or people seem ready for something interactive, these activities can completely shift the vibe in the best way.
