Berry Basil Smash Batch Cocktail

A refreshing batch cocktail made with vodka, fresh strawberries, basil, and lime! Perfect for summer happy hours, pool parties, & easy entertaining.

This cocktail had people texting me the next day for the recipe. It’s juicy, bright, and tastes like peak-summer strawberries in a glass. Just a handful of ingredients, no fancy tools, and a little prep ahead—and you’ve got a crowd favorite on your hands. You should probably go ahead and double it… maybe even triple.

Ingredients (makes ~10 drinks):

  • 2 ½ cups vodka

  • 3 cups fresh strawberries (~1 lb), divided

  • 20-25 fresh basil leaves

  • 1 ½ cups fresh lime juice (about 10-12 limes)

  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar (you can adjust the sugar based on your strawberries ripeness)

  • Sparkling water, to top right before serving

Step 1

Slice the 2 ½ cups strawberries and toss with the sugar. Cover and let sit in the fridge for at least 1 to 2 hours to macerate and get juicy.

Step 2

In a large pitcher, muddle the sugared strawberries, basil leaves, and lime juice until fragrant and broken down.

Step 3

Add the vodka and stir to combine. Chill the whole pitcher until ready to serve.

Step 4

Pour over ice into individual glasses and top with sparkling water.

Step 5

Garnish with a fresh basil leaf and a strawberry half.

HAUSTE HINT: Slice the remaining ½ cup of strawberries for garnish—leave the tops on, cut down the middle, and make a small horizontal slit so they can sit on the rim of each glass.
